T-Mobile Park is already one of the most difficult places in baseball to score runs, and conditions should only amplify that advantage. Temperatures in the low 50s combined with Seattle’s dense marine air create a poor hitting environment, with the park projected to play roughly 1.35 runs below league average.

George Kirby appears to be finding his footing after a slow start, while Zac Gallen still possesses the swing-and-miss arsenal capable of neutralizing even quality lineups. Neither offense is catching a favorable matchup, and both starters have paths to working deep into the game.

The model also expects a quiet start. With a YRFI probability of just 38.5%, run-scoring opportunities should be limited from the outset, forcing both clubs to string together multiple quality at-bats rather than relying on one big swing.

These subtle model inputs push the fair total closer to 6.5 and that’s plenty of separation to get involved.

Edge Type: Market anchoring + offensive disparity

The market is probably properly respecting Davis Martin’s recent form. He’s been solid enough lately and Chicago has played more competitive baseball than the season-long numbers suggest. However, our model still makes Minnesota the favorite here, and once the Twins drifted into plus money territory, the edge became actionable.

The edge comes from the offensive gap and game environment. Chicago still struggles creating crooked numbers, while Minnesota owns the better overall quality-of-contact profile across nine innings. In lower-total games, variance increases and plus-money underdogs become more attractive.

Additionally, the market feels overly anchored to team perception rather than today’s actual matchup. Kendry Rojas carries volatility, but the underlying matchup against this White Sox lineup is less dangerous than the number implies.

These subtle model inputs push the fair price to MIN -119 and that’s plenty of separation to get involved.

The risk is Rojas’ inexperience. If the command disappears early and Minnesota is forced into middle relief quickly, the game script changes fast.

Edge Type: Bullpen availability/recency bias + lineup optimization

The market is probably properly pricing the starting pitching matchup. Chase Burns, “The Kid”, has undoubtedly been electric. However, our model is showing Cincinnati owning the bullpen availability advantage, which becomes increasingly important with a young starter on the mound. Moreover, the terrible recent form of the bullpen might provide an opportunity here to fade that narrative. One of the best bullpens in baseball for the first month of the season quickly became one of the worst in baseball in the second month of the season. The ‘truth’ probably lies somewhere in the middle and we get a opportunity to take advantage of the recency bias of the public here with some additional rest which can only help given the postponement of the Cardinals game on Sunday. Finally, it seems that Tito Francona’s relentless lineup tinkering has found a lineup structure that has seemingly clicked into place.

These subtle model inputs push the fair price to -135 and that’s enough separation to get involved.

The risk is Burns’ inexperience. If he struggles to work efficiently through the order the first time, the game script changes quickly.

Race Six #5 Perrylu- Another interesting longshot. Trainer points for this meet and I actually ran into her yesterday down in the paddock and she shared that this horse has been kicking the stall doors down ready to run. Picks up live jock.

Race Ten #9 Barker- Another trainer who points for this meet. Has been repeatedly compromised by slow paces and love the cutback in distance.

Race Four #4 Call On Me - This filly looks pretty good in this spot. Rusty Arnold is not only a trainer that targets this meet, but is also a trainer that you can count on to show dramatic improvement from start to start in his lightly-raced runners. Moreover, this filly closed into a slow pace on debut in what looks to be a quality field. Look for Luis Saez to have her more forwardly placed this time out.

Race Nine #4 Ragtime- There looks to be plenty of pace signed on in here and I would imagine Bill Mott will employ some team tactics with his other runner which should set this race up well for a closer. Look for this horse to be mowing ‘em all down late. Considering #2 Sterling Silver as the exacta partner to go with our top selection.

Our model is showing a strong edge on the Pirates in this matchup, and this number is simply too high for the way this game sets up.

Baltimore is the better team on paper, but this is not a spot where that edge shows up cleanly. Baz hasn’t demonstrated the ability to consistently separate and frankly is pretty overrated by our pitching metrics.

That should leave the door open for Pittsburgh.

We’re starting to see price inflation on the Yankees after their hot start to the season. They’re priced like there’s a clear gap here, but the matchup doesn’t really support it.

Eury Perez is good enough to keep this game under control early, and Miami’s offense can create just enough pressure — putting balls in play, extending at-bats — against a starter in Will Warren who is still settling in.

Everything about the setup points to a tighter game. Run projections are basically even, and with a lower total, outcomes tend to stay clustered.

That’s not where you want to be laying a big price.

If this is close through five, it turns into a bullpen game where variance takes over and the edge shifts toward the dog.

The line is simply too high for this type of game.

Can you feel it? Another Keeneland spring meet is upon us and our horse racing coverage is finally back by popular demand after a very successful 2025 campaign. Those results were attained by being rigorous in our handicapping approach, extremely selection oriented and structuring our wagers properly. You have to operate this way in order to grind out a profit in such a high-takeout game. We have a lot of new subscribers, some who are not familiar with horse racing, and we will try to make our handicapping digestible for new horseplayers and seasoned veterans alike. Race Two #11 N Z Holly- This three year old filly is an interesting price shot to start the card. After debuting on a synthetic surface, she found herself stuck on a dead rail at Oaklawn and still managed to win and then was caught wide next time out trying to close into an inside speed biased track- we believe that effort looks a lot better than it appears on paper. Furthermore, the form of that race has been flattered by several of the horses that have come back to run well and validate that figure. The presence of Flavien Prat in the irons will certainly drive down the price, but he should be able to work this filly over into a nice stalking trip from the outside draw. As shown below, this Trainer/Jockey combo has had tremendous success together in similar spots at Keeneland over the past five years.

Race Seven #7 A Fine Chardonnay- This filly should be primed for this spot. In typical Ian Wilkes fashion, she has been conservatively conditioned and we expect to see continued improvement throughout her young racing career. She’s tried to close into two consecutive glacial paces and today should be primed for her best effort to date and she should sit a perfect outside stalking trip.

Race Nine #2 Percy’s Bar - This precocious filly certainly has the best namesake among the field. The chalk will obviously be tough to beat in here, but there’s enough reason to project improvement for her to be very competitive with the #3. First, you can project routine improvement for age from two to three often about 10 points on the Beyer scale. Furthermore, physically this filly has really grown into herself as evident in her morning preparations. She’s been working up an absolute storm at Keeneland for the past five weeks. Benny Colebrook is a local Lexington guy who points for this meet and has a boutique operation. I’m sure the first thing on his mind in the morning is getting this filly into the starting gate at Churchill for the Kentucky Oaks. Finally, she’s had two really rough trips in a row- getting DQ’d in the Alcibiades last fall where she was certainly best and then getting bounced around down on the rail at the Breeders Cup. Look for her to get better trip today from the ideal inside draw on this track configuration and see y’all afterwards at Percy’s Bar!

This is an ace tax spot.

Skenes is driving the number, but the underlying gap doesn’t justify this kind of separation.

Andrew Abbott is a strong enough counter to keep this game controlled early, and the Cincinnati Reds offense is built to generate just enough pressure — contact, traffic, and pitch count — especially with Skenes unlikely to go deep.

Quietly, this also sets up well on the back end. The Reds didn’t need their top bullpen arms yesterday, so they come in fresh with a clear leverage advantage once this gets past the starters.

Projection is tight, outcomes cluster around one run, and the number is stretched.

This is an environment-driven play with 15mph+ out-blowing winds to dead center in Camden Yards and the model is indicating a shift in the baseline more than the number reflects. The model implies a game closer to 9.5, while the market is still sitting at 8.5.

That gap matters.

Texas carries a heavy share of the scoring expectation here against a contact-friendly profile, and in this environment, contact turns into damage. You don’t need sustained rallies — mistakes get punished quickly.

On the other side, Jacob deGrom is still a high-end arm, but the number is being held down by what he used to be. You don’t need to beat peak deGrom to get over this total — you just need him not to control the entire game.

With the environment doing the heavy lifting, that’s enough.

This feels like a spot where the market is telling a story. Dodgers, Roki Sasaki debut hype, momentum — all the things that tend to get priced aggressively early in the season. Cleveland sits on the other side of that after a blowout loss, which usually lingers in the number more than it should and can provide a motivational boost. But once you get past the noise, this is a much tighter game than it looks, particularly in a clean west coast travel spot for the Guardians and what we have as a neutral pitching matchup.

Take the juicy price on the dawg.

Tampa profiles as the more complete team in this spot — particularly in how they manage innings and control the run environment. At 0–2 to start the season, there’s a natural tendency for the market to shade away early, especially against a team that hasn’t shown cracks yet. That creates a small but meaningful pricing distortion. Tampa’s edge here isn’t about chasing offense — it’s about limiting damage and avoiding the innings that swing games, which is where they tend to separate.

Race Three #6 Chunk of Gold - This fantastic $2,500 purchase (/lottery ticket) has banked over 3/4 of a milly in his illustrious 3YO campaign and this is a nice spot to add to his ROI as he attempts to check off his N2X condition and the distance and trip should be perfect.

*Note: if he takes care of his business look to upgrade the #3 horse in R8.

Race Six #6 A Fine Chardonnay - This horse ran a very professional race on debut and we have that effort as the top ability figure in this field, but what makes this horse especially intriguing is Ian Wilkes is a conditioner you can almost always count on to race his runners into fitness. They’re hardly ever cranked on debut which is evident in not only his trainer stats but also the price this filly was on the tote board. Henceforth you can project improvement, oftentimes A LOT of improvement, from first to second start; and if we already have this horse’s last effort as the top ability figure in the field then with routine improvement this horse becomes a very likely winner- especially when juxtaposed with the other trainers in here who have their horses ready to produce a top performance on debut. Finally, the outside draw with Tyler Gaffalione is perfect for a stalk and pounce type trip.

Race Seven #3 Princess Attitude - It’s extremely doubtful that the CAWs will let this horse go off anywhere near the listed 8-1 morning line, but if they do there will be a Brinks truck backed up at the clubhouse entrance at Keeneland. This horse fits well on figures and form and should more than appreciate the class drop. Moreover, when Vicky Oliver gives the call to Johnny V’s agent for a mount at Keeneland you can bet your bottom dollar that she’s got a Live runner and the trainer stats more than flesh this out- they’re good for a spectacular 27% Win Rate and a $2 ROI of Over $9!

We’re backing the Texans this week, taking advantage of a sneaky good team coming off their bye. Meanwhile, Seattle is riding high after an impressive road win against Jacksonville — a great spot for them, but one we don’t expect to carry over.

Our numbers power-rate this game at Seattle -2, meaning we see real value in grabbing Houston at +3.5. Both teams have comparable health scores, but the Texans own the spot advantage here.

While the public will glance at Houston’s 2–3 record and underestimate them, we still grade the Texans as about two points better than an average team. This isn’t a knock on Seattle — who we also view as a quality team — but given the numbers and the situation, we’re more than happy to take the points with Houston.

Our model is showing nice value on the Mariners in this spot projecting a fair ML closer to -150. The public is clearly overreacting to the Blue Jays blowout victory last night in Seattle and we think this provides a good opportunity to zig where they zag. The Mariners have a clear pitching advantage tonight with Luis Castillo taking the bump against a washed up Max Scherzer who will be the opener for the Jays.

Race Four #7 Baytown Bruiser - This is a pretty wide open race on paper with several directions for the public to go including the #11 horse who we think will be a big underlay. We believe that the #7 Baytown Bruiser is the most likely winner and will also provide nice value in this spot. We have this 4YO gelding pairing up 80 ability figures in his last two starts and think he will appreciate the slight cutback in distance here. We trust Luis Saez to give him an aggressive ride and he should be able to display the right finishing ability at this distance. He goes out for totally under the radar connections and that should ensure a decent price at the windows.

Race Five #12 Confront - This is an interesting turf sprint and we think the #12 Confront will be tough to handle in here if he can work out a trip from the outside post under Irad Ortiz. The form of his last race at Kentucky Downs has been solidified as several of the runners have come back to run well next time out including the winner. We think this 5.5 furlong trip is ideal and like that he has shown the ability to rate before. The two interesting price shots we identified to go with this horse in the exacta are the #9 Brie’s in Town- who exits the same common race and the #10 Our Starry Night- who goes out for Phil Bauer and Luis Saez who should have him forwardly placed, his effort two back at Saratoga makes him dangerous here.

Race Six #7 Cozee Rags - We typically don’t like Union Rags as a turf influence, but this horse’s form is interesting enough to overlook that pedigree angle at what figures to be a generous price. When dissecting this filly’s past performances it becomes evident that she relishes added ground and its somewhat surprising that the trainer hasn’t pointed her to longer distances more frequently. Her performance last fall in the G3 Dowager is particularly encouraging and her first race back on the turf since that effort should provide a nice prep for this spot where she was running at too short of a distance and hopelessly stuck behind a dawdling pace. Let’s try to blow up the tote board with this filly today!

They’re coming off of a 15-inning war against the Tigers where they practically depleted their entire bullpen in a ‘tear down the goalposts’ series clincher. They not only have a massive bullpen disadvantage tonight, but also a travel disadvantage having to travel across the country on short rest. This is a great spot to ladder bet the Blue Jays who should be licking their chops tonight.
